I am a 9th generation native of the Granite State, a descendant of Gen. John Stark and "Live Free or Die." I love the (603) and the intense, intimate political culture of the state. I direct federal + state government relations for the University of New Hampshire (my alma mater). Right now I spend most of my time organizing UNH Works
which is comprised of over 1,300 alumni, students and parents to advocate for a new partnership with Concord.
I'm passionate about public engagement and deliberative democracy (what is that? see Portsmouth Listens
, one of the best examples of it in the country). I'm actively engaged in the nonprofit sector -- which is a particularly powerful and vital sector of NH life (1 in 8 NH employees work for a nonprofit). I serve on the Advocacy Committee for the NH Center for Nonprofits
and I serve as a member of the Board of Directors for the foundation of NH's first public montessori charter school, Mill Falls.
I love graphic design, fonts, data visualization and good efforts at explaining big complicated data in compelling visual ways. "Design is the intermediary between information and understanding" - Richard Grefe.
I like to move forward and get stuff done.
