I am a 9th generation native of the Granite State, a descendant of Gen. John Stark and "Live Free or Die." I love the (603) and the intense, intimate political culture of the state. I direct federal + state government relations for the University of New Hampshire (my alma mater). Right now I spend most of my time organizing
UNH Works which is comprised of over 1,300 alumni, students and parents to advocate for a new partnership with Concord.
I'm passionate about public engagement and deliberative democracy (what is that? see
Portsmouth Listens, one of the best examples of it in the country). I'm actively engaged in the nonprofit sector -- which is a particularly powerful and vital sector of NH life (1 in 8 NH employees work for a nonprofit). I serve on the Advocacy Committee for the
NH Center for Nonprofits and I serve as a member of the Board of Directors for the foundation of NH's first public montessori charter school,
Mill Falls.
I love graphic design, fonts, data visualization and good efforts at explaining big complicated data in compelling visual ways. "Design is the intermediary between information and understanding" - Richard Grefe.
I like to move forward and get stuff done.
